duke-campus-farmOur apartments near the Duke campus are a fantastic place for you to learn about gardening and get your hands dirty in the process. Every Thursday and Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, you can join in the planting, weeding, and harvesting over on the Duke Campus Farm.

This past year, students around town have set up and built some amazing facilities to help study everything from soil erosion to crop sustainability. Their “work in progress” is hoping to raise awareness of these issues and help design better ways of farming our land.

While this is all well and good, it’s a lot of work. That’s why they need volunteers to help out. When you volunteer to lend a hand, you’ll be helping more than just our community, you’ll be helping our world at large, and there is no better feeling than that.

All of the food that is grown is sold at the Duke Farmer’s Market, which you can attend every Friday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty and growing things in the soil? Get on Facebook and share your gardening tips and suggestions with your neighbors at Trinity Commons who might have small gardens in their Durham apartments.
