No matter how cold the weather gets, it’s never too cold to learn the tips and tricks of the gardening trade.
This January, residents of apartments near Duke University receive a warm welcome to three different gardening events at Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University:
- Walk on the Wild Side – Jan. 8, 11 a.m. – 12 noon. Meet at the Blomquest Garden of Native Plants entrance the first Thursday of every month to explore the natural changes of the season.
- Organic Vegetable Gardening: Winter – Jan. 20, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This class series teaches the organic gardener what and how to grow during the cold winter season. Three Tuesday classes and a Saturday field session comprise the course.
- Plants with Benefits – Jan. 27, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Garden expert Helen Yoest details 45 plants to determine whether or not the concept of “aphrodisiacs” is real or myth. Yoest will also be selling her book by the same title at the end of the lecture.
